Take a deep breath and hold on tight! The rollercoaster is about to begin as my wedding photography season goes into 5th gear. Sorry it’s been quiet on the blog front, however, there has been a lot going on behind the scenes, similar to a swan gliding through the water paddling crazily below! The last few weeks have been busy with heaps of pre wedding prep, album designing and creating a new alternative to my Folio albums which starts at a lower price point. I can’t wait to share this new product soon as it’s an absolute beauty!
Wedding photography is full on emotionally and physically. After recharging over the low season, I feel ready for the whirlwind ahead having done my best to work out at my various favourite gym classes. I am also happy to have found a super yoga class. I find yoga the best for my mind to keep me focused and sane during the busy months. The peak season is intense and yoga brings a sense of calm as well as much appreciated mental and physical energy. I couldn’t live without it when times become really hectic – it’s amazing for body and soul as well as sorting out my posture too! Wedding photographers spend many long hours hunched over computers editing so yoga is the perfect fix!
I also draw energy from nature and winter adventures such as skiing. Love a winter adventure, the more remote the better! You can’t beat a mountain vista for magic and escapism. When times are crazy I look back to these simple moments to reenergise and restore balance.
I can’t wait for the wonderful weddings that are coming up. It’s going to be hectic but lots of fun! When times are crazy I remind myself of these peaceful moments of solace. I was lucky enough to visit Sørheim in Norway for Christmas with my family a while back. It was sheer bliss and couldn’t have been more remote with more magnificent vistas. Mountains and fjords with a hot tub over looking the most beautiful majestic scene – bliss! Plus not a soul to be seen! Shhh I shouldn’t really share this special place but here it is for those looking for a retreat, I couldn’t recommend this hideaway highly enough: http://www.292aurland.com/cabin/
I visited during winter, however, I would love to experience this special place in the summer one day. Whilst recently having a good old clear-out on my computer I came across some Fuji 400h Film scans taken on my Contax 645 from this magical cabin adventure. I had barely glanced at them before having been too busy so it was a real treat to discover them – what perfect timing too! I adore the soft Nordic greys, blues, greens with a touch of lilac – love the serenity of a breath taking fjord! It would be a dream to shoot a wedding somewhere similar to this 12th century stave church in Ornes featured in these film scans. The church was built around 1130 or shortly thereafter, and is believed to be the oldest of its kind – such an incredible location just imagine shooting a wedding here!
Bring on the 5th gear of the wedding season and all the happiness, excitement, emotion, lovely couples and discovering new parts of the world. I am ready! ❤
